Bhubaneswar: 25 June 2026( Pratyusha Bureau)The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in partnership with the Departmentof Energy, Government of Odisha, organized the CII Energy Conclave 2026 on the theme”Powering Eastern India’s Green Transition – Policy, Innovation & IndustrialDecarbonization” at Hotel Mayfair Convention, Bhubaneswar. The conclave brought togetherpolicymakers, industry leaders, energy experts, technology providers and sustainabilityprofessionals to discuss strategies for accelerating Odisha’s transition towards a low-carbonand sustainable future.In his inaugural address, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister ofOdisha, reaffirmed Odisha’s commitment to becoming a leading clean energy investmenthub. He highlighted the state’s target of achieving 11 GW of renewable energy capacity by2030 through solar, wind, pumped storage and hybrid energy projects. He informed thatOdisha has received investment intents worth 67,000 crore for 6.7 GW renewable energyprojects, while green hydrogen and green ammonia projects along the state’s coastline aresupporting the growth of green industries. He further noted that nearly 2 lakh crore worth ofclean energy projects have been approved, with an additional 30,000 crore expected intransmission infrastructure, supporting Odisha’s Vision 2047 for sustainable and inclusivegrowth.Delivering the special address, Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary,Department of Energy, Government of Odisha, highlighted the state’s efforts to promoterenewable energy, energy efficiency, green hydrogen and sustainable industrialdevelopment. He announced ₹4,500 crore for strengthening Odisha’s transmission anddistribution infrastructure and emphasized the importance of collaboration amongdevelopers, technology providers, financial institutions and local communities to build aresilient energy ecosystem. He also announced that the Global Energy Leaders Summit2026 will be held in Bhubaneswar and invited stakeholders to participate.Addressing the inaugural session, Mr Anil Kumar Singh, Chairman, CII Odisha State Counciland President, JSW Steel Limited, highlighted Odisha’s growing significance as a hub forclean energy investments and sustainable industrial development. He stressed the need forstronger collaboration among government, industry, investors and financial institutions toposition Odisha as the green energy gateway of Eastern India.Mr Devesh Goel, Chairman, CII Eastern Region Energy Subcommittee and ManagingDirector, Laser Power & Infra Ltd, set the context for the conclave by noting that the globalenergy landscape is undergoing rapid transformation driven by energy security, affordability,sustainability and resilience.Mr Vijay Chand, Regional Executive Director, NTPC Ltd, emphasized the need for EasternIndia to balance industrial growth with sustainability through a multi-pronged energy.transition strategy.Mr Prashant Mathur, Chief Executive Officer, Saatvik Solar Industries Private Limitedhighlighted the critical role of domestic solar manufacturing in strengthening India’s energysecurity and supporting the country’s renewable energy ambitions. He emphasized the needfor continued policy support, technology innovation and supply chain resilience to acceleratelarge-scale solar deployment.Mr Prashant Choubey, President & Head, Green Hydrogen & Ammonia Business, AvaadaGroup underscored the transformative potential of green hydrogen and green ammonia indecarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors and driving sustainable industrial growth. He noted thatOdisha’s strong industrial ecosystem, port infrastructure and renewable energy potentialposition the state as a key destination for green hydrogen investments and exports.In his concluding address, Mr Manikanta Naik emphasized the need for collaborative actions.
