Bhubaneswar, 28.09.24 ( Pratyusha Bureau):Odisha FC secured their first win of the 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) season on Saturday at the Kalinga Stadium. Odisha’s goals came from Diego Mauricio (20′) and Mourtada Fall (42′). Jamshedpur FC’s lone goal was an own goal by Mourtada Fall in the 62nd minute. Odisha FC started with intensity, earning two corners within the first seven minutes. Both teams appeared rushed, but the Kalinga Warriors’ determined performance forced the Men of Steel to defend deep. In the 20th minute, a smooth exchange between Isak, Hugo, and Diego Mauricio led to a powerful shot from Diego, putting Odisha FC ahead. OFC 1-0 JFC Odisha nearly added a second in the 27th minute when Amey Ranawade, unmarked on the right, missed a golden chance. A few minutes later, Diego Mauricio was denied by a superb save from Albino Gomes from the close range. Odisha doubled their lead in the 42nd minute, with Mourtada Fall’s towering header from Hugo’s well-executed corner, securing a 2-0 lead at half-time. In the second half, Jamshedpur tried to fight back but the Kalinga Warriors remained in control. Puitea impressed with his efforts from a long-range, while Amey came close again in the 55th minute. Despite Jamshedpur’s defensive resilience, Odisha maintained their dominance to secure the win. In the 62nd minute, Mourtada Fall’s clearance effort landed in their own net. OFC 2-1 JFC In the 90+5th minute, Jamshedpur had two golden chances to equalize as Sanan and Aniket both missed from close ranges. After this victory, Odisha FC will remain home to face the Kerala Blasters FC on Thursday, 3rd October 2024, at 7:30 PM IST.
