Bhubaneswar, 22.06.23 (Pratyusha Bureau):State level Workshop on Financing Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) based Sustainable Livelihoods .NABARD Odisha RO organised a State level workshop on Financing Decentralized Renewable Energy based Sustainable Livelihoods in collaboration with the SELCO foundation on 22.06.2023. The meeting was graced by Shri. Pradeep Kumar Jena, IAS, Chief Secretary and Chief Development Commissioner, Govt. of Odisha and attended by Shri. Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Finance Secretary, Govt. of Odisha, Shri. C Udayabhaskar, CGM NABARD, Shri. Chandershekhar Sharma, CGM, SBI, Shri. Goutam Patra, Convener SLBC, Ms. Huda Jaffer, Director SELCO Foundation, Shri Rishi Singh, Chairman, Odisha Gramya Bank, Senior Bankers from all the leading commercial banks in the State, all LDMs, Team DOR Odisha RO along with the budding Entrepreneurs and representatives of Start- ups in the field of DRE based activities.
Shri C. Udayabhaskar, CGM, Odisha RO while welcoming the participants highlighted the DRE guidelines and the PM KUSUM scheme that can be leveraged for creation of sustainable livelihood opportunities especially in the rural areas of the State. He also highlighted the collaboration of NABARD with SELCO foundation for promotion of sustainable livelihood through renewable energy in TDF project areas. Shri. Pradeep Kumar Jena, IAS, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Odisha in his keynote address applauded NABARD and SELCO foundation for timely intervention to address the aggravating impact of climate change on the livelihood of the poor and vulnerable. He emphasized the need to implement the bankable models prepared by NABARD on PM KUSUM with regard to component B & C Shri. Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Finance Secretary, Govt. of Odisha urged upon the bankers to actively finance the DRE based enterprises involving the micro or SHG/WSHG headed unit. He advised the banks to improve the ticket size of loan so that bank credit to the state would touch Rs 2 lakh cr viz 25% of SGDP by 31 March 2024. A book titled “Financing Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) Based Sustainable Livelihoods” was launched on the occasion. Presentation on PM KUSUM scheme and successful DRE based livelihood interventions implemented in the State of Odisha was made by NABARD and SELCO foundation respectively.
