Bhubaneswar: 12 July 2024 ( Pratyusha News ) : The 4th International Association of Jesuit Engineering Schools (IAJES) Summit 2024 was held at XIM University, Bhubaneswar, from July 10th to 12th, 2024. This global gathering aimed to foster collaboration, innovation, and excellence in engineering education. Representatives from 9 countries, 23 universities, and over 40 delegates from around the world participated in this prestigious event The summit began with a series of opening addresses from Fr. Antony R. Uvari, S.J., Vice Chancellor of XIM University, Rosa Nomen, President of IAJES, and Joseph Christie, S.J., Secretary for Higher Education, Society of Jesus. Highlights included presentations from regional representatives and a vibrant cultural program showcasing Indian heritage. Day two featured a meditation session led by Dr. Fr. Praveen Martis, S.J., Vice Chancellor of St Aloysius Deemed to be University, Mangalore, followed by collaborative working sessions on regional implementation and networking. Key projects presented included Mentoring & PhD, Infrastructure, Low Tech, Energy, Student Challenge, Women Group initiatives, Social Justice, and Health Care. The day concluded with the election of Regional Leaders. The final day included a Mass celebrated by Dr. Fr. John Rose Santiago, S.J., Director, Xavier Institute of Engineering, Mumbai and further collaborative sessions focused on exploring opportunities and experiences with various task forces. The summit concluded with presentations on IAJES’s future development and a closing meeting with key IAJES leaders.
