Bhubaneswar, 21/09/22 (Pratyusha Bureau)- Today, a significant program and inauguration ceremony took place in Bhubaneswar, marking the commencement of the Prime Minister Wi-Fi Access Network Initiative (PM WANI) scheme, aimed at providing Wi-Fi connectivity at all public places throughout the country. The event witnessed the presence of Saurabh Singh, co-founder of Expect Infotech Network, an entity associated with PM WANI, who discussed the potential for employment and self-employment opportunities through the establishment of Wi-Fi centers and data centers. Saurabh Singh highlighted that under the PM WANI scheme, public data centers are being established across the nation, with Bhubaneswar being one of the latest additions. The responsibility of overseeing the PM WANI initiative in Odisha has been entrusted to Prabhakar Mohanty, a well-known actor, who will serve as the Odisha State Coordinator. Prabhakar Mohanty expressed his commitment to the cause, stating, “I am an actor by profession, but it is also my duty to engage in social welfare activities. In this context, I am dedicated to extending the PM WANI Wi-Fi scheme to every household and village in Orissa. I will work tirelessly to ensure that every individual can access global information and connect with all sections of society, thus facilitating progress.” Mohanty further emphasized, “Just as the Prime Minister is propelling the nation towards Digital India, we are equally determined to bring internet facilities to every doorstep. In this digital age, India is rapidly emerging as a global internet powerhouse, and we intend to play our part by taking the PM WANI Wi-Fi scheme to every home. This initiative will enable every citizen to access the internet, unlocking numerous benefits. Small traders and shopkeepers will also experience enhanced ease in conducting business. The core objective of this scheme is to promote Digital India, with the added advantage of affordable Wi-Fi services under PM WANI.” MLA Suresh Kumar Routray added his perspective, saying, “This scheme will promote businesses, leading to increased income and an improved quality of life. The PM WANI scheme will generate new employment opportunities, contributing to its successful implementation.” In line with the scheme’s rollout, public data centers are being established across the country.
