Bhubaneswar 04/03( pratyusha News ) : Odisha will become a Naxal free state in next 2 years Apart from Kandhamal and Kalahandiya districts of the state, there is no Naxal influence in other districts. BSF DIG Dhirendra Kumar informed in a press conference in Bhubaneswar today that BSF is ready for the upcoming general elections.He said Border Security Force (BSF), a premier Border Guarding Force operating under the umbrella Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) of the Nation, serves as India’s first line of defense. Established on December 1, 1965, as a dedicated armed force of the union. The force upholds the motto “Jeevan Paryant Kartavya.” The strategic deployment of BSF in Odisha commenced since October 2010 and onwards, focusing on the Naxal-affected landscape of Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal & Kalahandi. In 2023, the BSF made significant strides in enhancing security infrastructure by establishing two COBS at Migunpadar & Kolampada in Kandhamal district and another COB was successfully instituted at Tulsi in the Malkangiri district. Further, in order to fill the security void in Kandhamal region, a strategic decision to establish new COBS especially in this region close to Kandhamal & Boudh was decided. On 28th February 2024, a significant milestone was achieved with the establishment of a new COB Badapaju, under the operational and administrative responsibility of the 99 Bn BSF, situated under SHQ Koraput. Badapaju, nestled amidst dense forests approximately 45 kms away from the Kandhamal district headquarters, has long languished without essential development works and basic facilities owing to the looming threat of Naxalite activity.Again he said the milestone underscores the unwavering commitment of the BSF towards ensuring the safety, security, and prosperity of the region, heralding a new dawn of hope and progress for the people of Badapaju and surrounding areas will prove to be game changer in ridding the region from Maoist influence.
