New Delhi,12 oct 2026( pratyusha Bureau ): Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of public sector undertakings under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thermogreen Cool to promote innovative passive cooling and cool-roof solutions in India. The partnership seeks to advance sustainable cooling approaches that can improve indoor thermal comfort, reduce heat gain in buildings, and help lower cooling demand. The collaboration reflects the growing importance of energy-efficient and climate-responsive infrastructure as India addresses rising temperatures, increasing cooling requirements, and the need for sustainable urban development. The initiative also reflects a shared belief in homegrown Indian research and innovative technologies that can offer practical, accessible responses to global warming. Indian industry partners, including Sagar Business Ventures Limited, recognise the importance of supporting indigenous innovation and bringing research-led solutions into wider use.Cool-roof technologies offer a practical approach to mitigating heat absorption by building surfaces. Thermogreen Cool’s Thermacool coating technology, developed in collaboration with IIT Bombay, uses solar heat-reflective properties to help reduce rooftop temperatures and improve indoor comfort. Such solutions have the potential to complement conventional cooling systems and support more energy-efficient buildings. The MoU was signed in the presence of Mr. Akhilesh Dixit, Chief Executive Officer, EESL. EESL was represented by Mr. Vidya Sagar Sharma and Ms. Shashindra Singh, while Thermogreen Cool was represented by Ms. Mala Roy, Mr. Kishore, and Ms. Shefali Roy.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anil Kumar Choudhary, Head – Sustainability & Clean Tech, EESL, said, “Passive cooling solutions can play a vital role in addressing rising temperatures, improving thermal comfort, and supporting India’s climate adaptation efforts.”The collaboration comes at a time when sustainable cooling is increasingly important for India’s energy transition.

Reducing the heat entering buildings can help improve living and working conditions while potentially lowering dependence on energy-intensive mechanical cooling. These benefits are particularly relevant for residential buildings, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, industrial establishments, and other infrastructure exposed to high ambient temperatures.Aligned with the vision articulated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to address climate change through sustainable development, indigenous innovation, and Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), this initiative reflects India’s commitment to practical responses to global warming. Guided by the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” and the theme “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” the collaboration illustrates how Indian research and homegrown technologies can contribute to affordable, energy-efficient cooling solutions for India and the wider world. The EESL–Thermogreen Cool collaboration, supported by wider industry participation, seeks to advance energy efficiency, climate resilience, and the adoption of Made-in-India sustainable technologies. Through this partnership, EESL and Thermogreen Cool seek to support the wider adoption of innovative cooling solutions and contribute to India’s broader objectives of energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and climate resilience. The collaboration also highlights the importance of bringing together public-sector implementation capabilities and technology-driven private-sector innovation to address emerging infrastructure challenges.Sagar Business Ventures Limited, as the Eastern India Partner of Thermogreen Cool, shares a strong commitment to indigenous research, innovative technology, and sustainable industrial development. Through this association, Sagar Business aims to support the adoption of advanced Indian cooling solutions across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors in Eastern India.Furthermore, Thermogreen Cool Coat Pvt. Ltd. and Sagar Business Ventures Limited are discussing plans to establish two manufacturing plants—one in Odisha, India, and another in the Middle East. These proposed facilities would aim to expand manufacturing capacity, market reach, and access to Indian-developed cooling technology.By advancing passive cooling alongside other energy-efficiency measures, the partnership can contribute to a future in which buildings are more comfortable, resource-efficient, and resilient to increasing heat stress.
